Flare Dance Company is an award-winning, women-led collective blending semi-classical Bollywood with traditional Indian folk. Based in Metro Vancouver, performing at weddings, corporate events, and community celebrations across British Columbia.
Who We Are
A women-led collective, built on belonging.
Flare Dance Company began in 2014 as a small recreational team at Simon Fraser University, built out of a simple need for connection and creativity. It has since grown into an award-winning collective of women in STEM who come together to honour both their careers and their love for dance.
We blend semi-classical Bollywood with traditional Indian folk, creating performances that feel both powerful and nostalgic. Beyond the stage, we share that energy through workshops and events, building spaces where people reconnect with culture, creativity, and each other.
Behind Flare is founder and artistic director Disha Katyal, who began dancing at fifteen and built the team from the ground up. She keeps dance accessible by reinvesting everything back into the collective, so that no one is ever kept from belonging.
